The False Narrative of Intelligence
The intelligence your company actually runs on isn't in any model — it's in your people's heads.
Hello Neuro Evolution Community,
We’re living with a false narrative around intelligence. A chatbot replies instantly, sounds professional, and we call it intelligent. It’s not. A confident answer is not the same as a correct one.
Human intelligence is more complex than we think. We connect different pieces of information to form an opinion. AI can do that too — mathematically. But to reach the right conclusion, you need the missing piece. And that piece isn’t captured anywhere — not in a document, not in a database, not in a training set. It’s siloed across the entire organization, living in people’s heads, built from years of context the model has never seen.
That’s why the answer was never the tools alone. It’s the right people in the room with the right tools — not the assumption that the tools can do it themselves.
Right now, companies are going through their teenage years. They’ve implemented some AI tools and think they’ve got it all figured out. But even the smartest models, specialized in their own domain, get it wrong. And companies are cutting the very expertise that knows when the output is wrong. The person who says, “I don’t have the answer, but this isn’t the right path.”
The best use case of AI is to mitigate risk — not to replace true intelligence with an artificial one.
We already tried swapping the real thing for the artificial version once — in our food. Look how that turned out.
And while we’re on the subject of food: we’re told to eat a well-rounded diet so we get all of our nutrients naturally. What makes us think one AI model, from one AI lab, will give us the well-rounded intelligence we need?
Intelligence isn’t just having an answer. It’s knowing when the answer is wrong. It’s knowing what we don’t know.
